100 Day Song Challenge – #95

A song “currently stuck in your head”. Well.

I started preparing this list when Lisa introduced me to this challenge, and at that point it was this song (just.. don’t watch this. just listen. they look ridiculous and the band name makes me cringe):

Right now I don’t have a song that i’m obsessed with, but I do like this one. It’s in Swedish and way too optimistic and upbeat for me, but what can I do?

“Och vi ska också glömmas bort, och aldrig talas om igen”

Hello Stranger

Hello complete stranger (i.e. random lady in the train this morning),

Just wanted to say that I totally dig your tattoo, but I’ve been raised not to talk to strangers. Sneaking a picture, however, felt perfectly reasonable. (The guy next to me was staring at the tattoo as well, unclear if he’s also read the book.)

100 Day Song Challenge – #94

This challenge is coming towards its end and I will actually miss it! It’s been rather handy to have this as a back up when I can’t think of things or am too busy to prepare posts.

A song “from a really obscure band”. As always, we could have a discussion here about what makes something count as obscure, but whatever.

How about this little gem from 1978? 999 Me and my desire:

Feminist Friday

Can we talk about how excited I am that we’ll finally get a female Doctor Who? I was promoting it last time, but then got kind of discouraged as they picked an old white man (I’d say “again”, but to be fair I guess it was the first old one). Yay!
And, I have to say that the manbabies’ reaction on the internet makes me lol for real. Bonus points!

(Side note: my partner informed me, in this manner: “Did you hear they chose a new Doctor Who?” me: no. who? BF: “a woman”. me: 😮 )

And since I was promoting them again to my newest colleague (as we say in Swedish – favorit i repris):

This Time Next Week….

…my mom and younger brother (I like to call him “little brother”, which people react on when they meet him and he’s just 3 years younger, so 30+, and taller than I) are almost here! I’m very very excited about this. It’s been 3 years since my mom was here and like 5 years since my brother was (the older brother still has not, but hey, it’s only been 9,5 years!). Let’s just hope the weather is reasonable when they’re here, they’re not great with heat and humidity…

Meanwhile I’m revisiting my playlists from 2015 and 2016 (yes, I save Spotify playlists with my favorites each year), and these popped up again:

My relationship with Family Guy is what FB would call “complicated” (seriously, Peter? Then again, I do like Brian.). But I still laugh at this:

100 Day Song Challenge – #93

A song “with an acoustic version better than the original”. Well. Not sure if they mean the cover has to be by the same artist, or if it can be an acoustic cover?

I choose the latter. And since Lisa’s been talking about this guy until I listened to him (and now love it!), it’s time for Dustin Kensrue. Bonus points for actually being amusing while chatting. (Minus points to the people laughing at the choice of song.)

WordPress Anniversary

Apparently it is mine. So they tell me. Sure I didn’t start writing anything until about 2 weeks later, but I’ve always been a slow starter.

In other news, we got mom a smartphone for her birthday. She’s not the most tech savvy person out there, but we set the phone to easy mode and it’s going better than I’d anticipated. Today she even managed to send me this picture, captioned “my first tomato this year!”. It’s quite cute, I have to say. (not the tomato, my mom)

A song “cover better than the original”. So many choices!! I listen quite a bit to covers. There’s just something about another artist interpreting a song and giving it a different meaning that appeals to me.

That being said… I picked a punkish cover of an r’n’b song. So not so much feelings, but it has ukulele in it! It’s Me First & The Gimme Gimmes I Believe I Can Fly:

Also performed live here, but they’re talking and stuff before, so skip to 2:45:

Project 2017 – Update #6 (Q2/H1)

What? We’re almost half-way through July you say? Oh well…*

I have three goals for this year, and will be making monthly updates on them. They are:

  • thinking of my health and start moving more. no numbers, explicit goals or deadlines, but simply that – move more, be kind to my body.
  • favorize women! more female authors and artists
  • continue learning stuff.

So, how has month four gone?

Health: Look. I had vacation, in my home land. And my mom is of the kind that encourages people to keep eating until there’s nothing left. Soooo…. (I didn’t eat any of my favorite snacks though! So gold star for that. Oh, my dear ostkrokar….)

The Ladies: To be honest – not great. I read too much by men this month, it’s screwing up my percentages (72% women atm)… I will fix it!!

Learning: Meh.

*When I was little, it amazed me when adults went “time goes so fast”. I was all “wtf? no it doesn’t!!!”, with the arrogance of a child. NOW THOUGH. God. Yeah, I’m one of the oldies. Where’s the time going?? Half the year is already over!
