100 Day Song Challenge – #95

A song “currently stuck in your head”. Well.

I started preparing this list when Lisa introduced me to this challenge, and at that point it was this song (just.. don’t watch this. just listen. they look ridiculous and the band name makes me cringe):

Right now I don’t have a song that i’m obsessed with, but I do like this one. It’s in Swedish and way too optimistic and upbeat for me, but what can I do?

“Och vi ska också glömmas bort, och aldrig talas om igen”

Accidental nerd-drop

Hehehe. So, colleague #3 in this post just asked me an IT question (since I’ve somehow turned into the unofficial IT support in our team), and I answered “have you tried logging out and in again?”, upon which the colleague started laughing and went “have you tried turning it off and on again?” (like so. if you don’t get it).

This one’s a keeper!

Hello Stranger

Hello complete stranger (i.e. random lady in the train this morning),

Just wanted to say that I totally dig your tattoo, but I’ve been raised not to talk to strangers. Sneaking a picture, however, felt perfectly reasonable. (The guy next to me was staring at the tattoo as well, unclear if he’s also read the book.)

100 Day Song Challenge – #94

This challenge is coming towards its end and I will actually miss it! It’s been rather handy to have this as a back up when I can’t think of things or am too busy to prepare posts.

A song “from a really obscure band”. As always, we could have a discussion here about what makes something count as obscure, but whatever.

How about this little gem from 1978? 999 Me and my desire:

Feminist Friday

Can we talk about how excited I am that we’ll finally get a female Doctor Who? I was promoting it last time, but then got kind of discouraged as they picked an old white man (I’d say “again”, but to be fair I guess it was the first old one). Yay!
And, I have to say that the manbabies’ reaction on the internet makes me lol for real. Bonus points!

(Side note: my partner informed me, in this manner: “Did you hear they chose a new Doctor Who?” me: no. who? BF: “a woman”. me: 😮 )

And since I was promoting them again to my newest colleague (as we say in Swedish – favorit i repris):

This Time Next Week….

…my mom and younger brother (I like to call him “little brother”, which people react on when they meet him and he’s just 3 years younger, so 30+, and taller than I) are almost here! I’m very very excited about this. It’s been 3 years since my mom was here and like 5 years since my brother was (the older brother still has not, but hey, it’s only been 9,5 years!). Let’s just hope the weather is reasonable when they’re here, they’re not great with heat and humidity…

Meanwhile I’m revisiting my playlists from 2015 and 2016 (yes, I save Spotify playlists with my favorites each year), and these popped up again:

My relationship with Family Guy is what FB would call “complicated” (seriously, Peter? Then again, I do like Brian.). But I still laugh at this:

Nerds Uniting (at work)

Last week I went out for dinner with some (new) colleagues. I don’t know them super-well, but after this I can’t help but like them (if they still like me remains to be seen):

me: So what’s your kid’s name? something super Dutch?
colleague 1: not really – Logan
colleague 1: yes but we named him BEFORE! …although, I have to admit that the name’s from the x-men comic
me: oh, so you’re nerds! there’s a new marvel movie in november…
colleague 1: I know! Thor…
colleague 2: oh, that’s the one with the hot blonde guy, right?
colleague 1: sure, but his brother [in the movies] is much hotter

later in the train (yes, it might seem random, but this is how it goes when I try to be social. and we were talking about feminism):
me: …do you like Buffy?
colleague 3: it might seem exaggerated to say that it’s my favorite series ever…
me: …but it’s your favorite series ever?
colleage 3: yes.
