week 34/ I’m laziness defined

Food

Wine counts as food, right?

Plans

One of my brothers is coming to visit next week (yay!), and then 2 weeks after he leaves, my mom + an aunt comes to visit. I’m very excited about it while at the same time advising my partner that he can plan client dinners that week if he thinks it’s too much 😛

week 33/ briefly

Food

Man. Apparently I’m no longer used to (the kind of) Swedish food (that my family eats), and my stomach was NOT HAPPY while I was there. Now I’m back for less than a week, and everything (stomach-wise) is A-OK. Apparently I’m one of the old people who requires lots and lots of vegetables now. That’s certainly not a bad thing.

Music/Playlist

So friend L and I have booked our tickets to go to Iceland Airwaves again this year, so the playlist now is this:

5 empties

Calm Non-Greasy Dagcrème SPF 30 by Paula’s Choice (they’ve changed the packaging since I purchased this)

Well. I mean I like it, and it makes my skin feel pretty nice and smooth, but it’s shininess galore, no matter the weather. Unlikely that I’ll repurchase this considering the other alternatives from PC.

€ 34,00 for 60 ml

The Righteous Butter by Soap & Glory

Love the smell, since I’m a sucker for sweet smelling things. However. Difficult to get if you’re in NL (unless you’re willing to pay 3 times as much to order it from Boots’ NL shop). Also, my skin wasn’t crazy about this. It seems to really dry me out, and I have to apply lotion afterwards for it not to itch like crazy (and I’m lazy, don’t want to do that). Won’t be buying this again.

£7.00 for 300 ml

Resist Anti-Aging Ultra-Light Antioxidant Serum by Paula’s Choice

So, it may be just me, but between this one, and the last one in this list (at a fraction of the price), I prefer the cheap Swedish-pharmacy brand. They did about the same thing, so there’s nothing that justifies the price here. Sorry PC.

€ 39,00 for 30 ml

Resist Anti-Aging Dagcrème SPF 50 by Paula’s Choice

This one also made my face shiny just like the first one in this list, but I prefer this one. It’s “fluid” (as stated on the packaging), and it applies so much easier than the lotion ones. Plus it’s SPF 50, which is great for summer here where the sun is stronger than I’m “used to”. Will repurchase, despite the shininess.

€ 38,00 by 60 ml

Fuktserum by Kronans Apotek (they’ve changed the packaging since I purchased this)

Yay! I bought this one years back as a test, but just started using it last year for real. It completely stands up to the more expensive products I’ve tried, and I have already repurchased this now that I was in Sweden on vacation. Love it.

99 SEK for 50 ml (roughly € 10)

week 32/ an extensive one

Book/story

We drove around a lot for 4 days, and what did I make pictures of? Waterfalls and kittens, that’s what.

The kittens people! Totally adorable. They’re 8 weeks old, climb up on you and fall asleep in your lap while purring. Irresistible.

Reading list

Not a great reading week because I had literally no alone time, and feel the need to actively hang out with my family when I’m actually there. I did pick this up at Amsterdam airport, and read about a third on the way there though:

I quite liked this cheap serum from Swedish Kronan pharmacy, so it was time to repurchase.

week 31/this one’s actually done in time

Food

As it’s cooled down a bit this week (like, 27-29 C rather than 37 C), we haven’t ordered food! (*pats self on back*) My favorites this week were the Korean beef wraps and the oven baked aubergine with pasta. I would show pictures, but I don’t have any. You can imagine it 😛

Music

Plans

I fly to Sweden on Saturday for a week of vacation with the family (and they’ve planned this road trip, meaning we’ll barely be “at home” at all?). Meanwhile the security people at Amsterdam airport are – as far as I understand – taking extra breaks and shit (rather than going on strike), leading to “additional delays” on top of it being the busiest period at the airport since it’s school vacations. Not stressing me out. AT. ALL.

July summary

The books:

Naomi Klein’s No Is Not Enough: Resisting Trump’s Shock Politics and Winning the World We Need
Katraina Wennstam’s Flickan och skammen: En bok om samhällets syn på slampor (Eng: the girl and the shame: a book about society’s view of sluts)
Lisa Bjärbo’s Inuti huvudet är jag kul
Jesmyn Ward’s Sing, unburied, sing
Sofia Nordin’s En sekund i taget
Sofia Nordin’s Spring så fort du kan
Jay Asher’s What light

Look at me read! The last 3 and Lisa Bjärbo’s book are all YA, and this is what made this happen. So easy to read! Good story-lines, well written characters, and less than 300 pages long.

The movies:

Gar nichts! Helemaal niets! Ingen alls!

Or, I mean, I did see Back to the Future I & II, cause they were on TV on Saturday. I didn’t make it all the way through cause I got tired, but apparently they were also followed by III. Oh well.

The shows:
Orphan Black
Lucifer

We started watching Lucifer* since my friend Sandra recommended it. Oh man, it’s good! It took me like two episodes to realize that Lucifer is the same guy who played Gary in Miranda. Ooh, Miranda… I’ll have to re-watch that, don’t I.

*edit: also! Lucifer is apparently based on (someone?) from Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman.
