Project 2017 – Update #5

I have three goals for this year, and will be making monthly updates on them. They are:

  • thinking of my health and start moving more. no numbers, explicit goals or deadlines, but simply that – move more, be kind to my body.
  • favorize women! more female authors and artists
  • continue learning stuff.

So, how has month five gone?

Health: Better! Still irregularly going to the gym, but at least I’m going.

The Ladies: Yessir! 80% of the books I’ve read were written by women, and Spotify continues to deliver.

Learning: I’ve picked up the uke again, and I’m going to do a summer course at Stockholm University. Let’s see if I actually finish it!

Project 2017 – Update #4

I have three goals for this year, and will be making monthly updates on them. They are:

  • thinking of my health and start moving more. no numbers, explicit goals or deadlines, but simply that – move more, be kind to my body.
  • favorize women! more female authors and artists
  • continue learning stuff.

So, how has month four gone?

Health: Meh. I did figure out how to actually keep going to the gym (go to the one that’s on the way. Very little effort, very few excuses) and I walked a lot in the amusement park.

The Ladies: Jawohl, at least this one’s still on track!

Learning: Meh. When my partner cleaned he stored the uke in it’s travel bag, and apparently out of sight really is out of mind cause I’ve barely touched it. Did move it out of the bag though, so now it will stare at me.

Project 2017 – Update #3 (Q1!)

I have three goals for this year, and will be making monthly updates on them. They are:

  • thinking of my health and start moving more. no numbers, explicit goals or deadlines, but simply that – move more, be kind to my body.
  • favorize women! more female authors and artists
  • continue learning stuff.

So, how has the first quarter gone?

Health: Meh. I’ve been eating slightly less bad, but instead haven’t been moving very much at all.

The Ladies: Still going strong! I’m well above the 75% in reading, and musically it’s pretty much all about the women (and a few falsetto-singing men).

Learning: Ukulele playing! I’m trying to learn to play Riptide and it’s going ok (but damn, chucking’s difficult). Apart from this, I haven’t learned very much at all.

Project 2017 – Update #2

I have three goals for this year, and will be making monthly updates on them. They are:

  • thinking of my health and start moving more. no numbers, explicit goals or deadlines, but simply that – move more, be kind to my body.
  • favorize women! more female authors and artists
  • continue learning stuff.

So, how has February been?

Health: I have set foot in the gym again, I repeat – I have set foot in the gym. Obviously it’ll take some perseverance, but at least I have begun! [the weather is seriously not helping though. rain, ice, wind, storms. come on.]

The Ladies: Si! I’m not really listening to music at the moment, but my podcasts are female-dominated and in the book-world I haven’t ready any more books by men than I had at the last update, so at this point it’s like this: 18 books read – 16 by female writers. Go me!

Learning: Er. No. I guess this is like with looking at houses online, I like to browse (for courses/houses) but don’t really want to commit now… Still working on the Ukulele though! Still doing a bit every day and it’s quite slow going but at least I know some chords.

Project 2017 – Update #1

I have three goals for this year, and will be making monthly updates on them to keep reminding myself why/how. They are:

  • thinking of my health and start moving more. no numbers, explicit goals or deadlines, but simply that – move more, be kind to my body.
  • favorize women! more female authors and artists
  • continue learning stuff.

So, how has the first month gone?

Health:

Eeeh. I was down and out one full week due to the flu, so it didn’t start off great. The cold (minus degrees!!) meant slippery bike paths, meant me not biking to the gym. And that’s the only way to get there. So no gym yet. (Obviously this is an excuse, it’s a chain of gyms and you can go to any of them. There’s one next to the train station where I work, and one next to the train station where I switch trains. If I REALLY had wanted to, I could’ve gone to either of those.)

The Ladies:

Börjar starkt! As we say. Going very well so far. Out of the 11 books I’ve read, 9 were written by women. Musically it’s about the same. Spotify suggests about half half to me, and my favorites are usually female.

Learning:

The cartography course has begun, and had its first assignments to hand in. And… big bucket of nope. Look, I even enjoy books about maps, but this course (at Stockholm University) was just ridiculously boring.

Happy 2017

As per tradition NYE was spent at home with just brother “in law”. We had a nice dinner and OKish drinks (elderflower, gin & prosecco cocktail sounded much nicer than it turned out!). I entered the new year in sparkly top coat for my nails and shamelessly wearing a dress (something I struggle with). And we played Settlers of Catan:

And one of my friends did this on Facebook, which led to hilarious comments/shares:
