Calm Non-Greasy Dagcrème SPF 30 by Paula’s Choice (they’ve changed the packaging since I purchased this)

Well. I mean I like it, and it makes my skin feel pretty nice and smooth, but it’s shininess galore, no matter the weather. Unlikely that I’ll repurchase this considering the other alternatives from PC.

€ 34,00 for 60 ml

The Righteous Butter by Soap & Glory

Love the smell, since I’m a sucker for sweet smelling things. However. Difficult to get if you’re in NL (unless you’re willing to pay 3 times as much to order it from Boots’ NL shop). Also, my skin wasn’t crazy about this. It seems to really dry me out, and I have to apply lotion afterwards for it not to itch like crazy (and I’m lazy, don’t want to do that). Won’t be buying this again.

£7.00 for 300 ml

Resist Anti-Aging Ultra-Light Antioxidant Serum by Paula’s Choice

So, it may be just me, but between this one, and the last one in this list (at a fraction of the price), I prefer the cheap Swedish-pharmacy brand. They did about the same thing, so there’s nothing that justifies the price here. Sorry PC.

€ 39,00 for 30 ml

Resist Anti-Aging Dagcrème SPF 50 by Paula’s Choice

This one also made my face shiny just like the first one in this list, but I prefer this one. It’s “fluid” (as stated on the packaging), and it applies so much easier than the lotion ones. Plus it’s SPF 50, which is great for summer here where the sun is stronger than I’m “used to”. Will repurchase, despite the shininess.

€ 38,00 by 60 ml

Fuktserum by Kronans Apotek (they’ve changed the packaging since I purchased this)

Yay! I bought this one years back as a test, but just started using it last year for real. It completely stands up to the more expensive products I’ve tried, and I have already repurchased this now that I was in Sweden on vacation. Love it.

99 SEK for 50 ml (roughly € 10)

Week 22 / bye bye May

Podcast episode:
David Tennant returned to Nerdist (or, I guess, ID10t, as it’s renamed into). Listen here.

App
This is a bit irrelevant, since most of the readers of this blog are not in NL, but anyway. I love my bank’s app. It’s SO HANDY. Intuitive, forward thinking, and very very helpful. Thank you ING! (Note: I stole the picture online, cause you can’t make screenshots when the app is running.)

Makeup/beauty:
So, I seem to have an allergic reaction to something in my skincare drawer. Suddenly happened yesterday, and I’ve narrowed it down, to either being this serum (bought at the pharmacy and for sensitive skin though, is that even possibly the culprit?) or a reaction between two of the parts I use (one of which would be this same serum). None of the other components are new. Had a nice red face yesterday though…

Mask
I should get better at using masks, but it’s a work in progress. I did use two this week: this one, my only recurring one, and this:

It was fine. Can’t say I noticed any lasting effect, but my face did feel soothed after using it.

Personal
On Friday we signed the final papers for selling the “old” house. The buyers are the same age we were when buying it, and they seem really enthusiastic about it, so that’s very nice. We now officially only own 1 house. Phew.

Question:
Do I have the courage to sign up for lessons to learn and play an instrument? There’s a kid in our new neighborhood who’s learning to play violin, and it sounds like… there’s room for improvement. But do I dare/want to be in the same seat as an adult?

4 things in my online cart

4 things in my online cart. I’m assuming that at any point in time, most of us have things lying about in online carts. Doesn’t have to be the same cart, a variation of carts will do!

But of course. The only one where I have that many items pending is by our friends at Paula’s Choice:

What can I say – I’m like “wantwantwant” until I see the total price, then I quickly close the tab. Maybe at some point!

9. If you had to stick to only one skincare brand, what would it be?
Well, at this point I’d have to say Paula’s Choice. They have the full range of products (including day cream with SPF of 30 and above) and I’m happy with everything I’ve tried.
10. Best spot treatment?
Er, not sure? PC’s 2% BHA exfoliant really helps me since it dries them out, and they are barely visible in a day or two.
11. Favorite step of your skincare routine?
I enjoy the exfoliation, mainly since it’s the one thing I actually feel the effect of.
12. What’s on your skincare wishlist?
I’d like to try this one, but it’s sold out now. If anyone’s got a recommendation of Vitamin C products, I’m all ears!

Skincare tag pt 2. Questions:

5. Best budget buy? I don’t really remember how much this one was, but it wasn’t too bad, and it’s actually very nice. I miss the products of the Swedish pharmacies…20171018_161650.jpg
6. Do you use any tools (Clarisonic, Foreo, etc.)? Nein!
7. Best mask? Eh. In theory I like masks, and I have some in a drawer. But in reality, I rarely use them. Definitely not often enough to have anything even close to a favorite. Give me suggestions!
8. Best multi-use? Maybe Lush’s Lemony Flutter that’ll make anything soft and smells great? (although this specific pot is pretty weird consistency)

Skincare Tag pt 1.

The Endless Blog Challenge.

I’m off to Germany for the weekend to visit little L and her parents (the kid’s almost a year, that’s crazy!). Obviously had to get the little one a present for her first birthday, and as always I refuse to get something gendered. BRIO blocks ftw?

I leave you with this:

Skincare tag pt 1. This is an old tag created by makeupTIA. In total, it’s 12 questions, but I’m splitting it up into 3 parts, simply because I’m a big believer in the short post. These are the first 4 questions:

  1. What is your skin type? Combination – oily t-zone and rest normal (ish? how do you know?)
  2. How do you store your skincare?  Like this:
    20171012_221829.jpg
  3. Favorite ingredient? Eh. What? I’m not that into skincare.
  4. Most indulgent product? The whole bunch from Paula’s Choice I guess… cause you know, I’m sure it’d still be perfectly acceptable with less expensive products.

Empties

Endless Blog Challenge!

Empties. On a theme or completely random!

Since there was a head’s up about this, I managed to gather 3 empties for this post. “Tre tomma”. Starting off with my all time favorite hand cream; Lush’s Handy Gurugu. Friend L introduced me to this one while in Iceland, so as a plus point, the smell reminds me of that! It’s the only thing that makes sure my hands survive the soap they use at work:

Moving on, I’ve emptied the first products I bought for skincare. Both from Paula’s Choice (since I’m lazy, I bought everything from the same place), it’s a cleanser and day cream for combination/oily skin. I’m honestly very invested in this cleanser, but since I – at the same time – think it’s ridiculous to pay € 26 for a cleanser, I’m now trying cheaper alternatives (this and this). I’m not convinced by either of them 😦

The day cream was a bit “meh” though. While the SPF definitely worked, and the texture was SPF-cream-like (which I can live with), it left like… I don’t have the words to describe it. You know like when you shower and old skin comes off around your neck? A bit like that, when I touched my face like the monkey I am. So won’t buy that one again, and am currently trying this one instead. (Promising so far! Just note that it says “fluid” not “cream”.)
