Some books (granted not that many) capture me to the degree where I have to put it down and go “This is really interesting! Did you know….”. For me, this mainly happens with historical books. Like non-fiction. That’s how I roll.
Most recently this reaction was caused by Charles C. Mann’s 1491, and now I just started reading his 1493 which, so far, is about malaria and stuff. If these kinds of books trigger any interest, I’d also recommend Russell Shorto’s book on Amsterdam (if you’re ever going there), and the one on New York (if you’re ever going there). Or even if you’re not going cause they’re still great reads.
